Eventful Tallinn

Tallinn has always been host to festivals, sports competitions and major cultural events. Today, the urban backdrop of the nation’s capital is an important part of the Estonian cultural landscape. Annual events such as the Old Town Days, jazz, film, theatre, and art festivals, beer fests and others have become traditions that bring visitors from near and far. In 2011, Tallinn will bear the title of European Culture Capital in partnership with Turku, Finland. This will mean innovations in the city’s planning, from public art and funding for cultural events to the busy cultural calendar. It will also mean a celebration among native Tallinners of the town they call home and an influx of tourists to bear witness to Tallinn’s hum of cultural events.
